The IAE PAN Publishing House has just released Dr Joanna Mroczkowska’s book ‘The Disappearing Farmer. Anthropology of Food in the Podlasie Countryside’. The publication is the result of many years of ethnographic research conducted in the borderlands of eastern Poland, in the vicinity of Dąbrowa Białostocka. The author reconstructs everyday culinary practices and farming strategies, showing how the decline of agriculture reflects broader social, political and cultural changes.
