Invasi species in Poland:
from extermination to victimization

The issue of species invasiveness is widely discussed, sometimes also pointing to its controversy. In both social and biological approaches, there are many contradictions and inconsistencies: plant and animal species are treated differently, the concepts of foreignness and invasiveness are confused, cultural or political criteria (such as administrative boundaries) become determinants of environmental actions, and so on.

Magdalena Kozhevnikovą is interested in the fight against invasive species, mainly, from a cultural perspective (such as the imposition of negative human categories on the non-human world and the strong emotional burden of terminology), as well as an important issue related to animal ethics (the question of human responsibility for the spread of species deemed invasive, the invasiveness of the human species, and ultimately, the eradication or advocacy for the eradication of entire animal species regardless of the psychological and physical suffering they may experience).

The research will be conducted on narratives, attitudes, and practices in selected national parks.
